In Lincoln's Footsteps - In Lincoln's Footsteps

Mission

To generate a lasting, positive impact on Pennsylvania high school students by conducting a speech contest with broad participation to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address. In so doing, the major objectives of the contest are:

  • to honor the significance of Lincoln’s Address and to reinforce its relevance to the present;
  • to perpetuate the values it represents, especially freedom, courage, sacrifice, dedication and our Nation’s purpose;
  • to cultivate added appreciation for quality written and oral communication in today’s society; and
  • to recognize the winning student’s oration through a scholarship and the honor of participating in the official 150th anniversary program in Gettysburg on November 19, 2013.
