The In Lincoln’s Footsteps contest is open to any high school student who will be in 10th-12th grade during the 2013-14 academic school year and is enrolled in a public, parochial, private, charter or home school within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Students will be asked to submit a 270 speech reflecting a contemporary perspective and personal commentary on one or more of the themes articulated by Lincoln in his Gettysburg Address. Themes may include freedom, bravery, sacrifice, dedication and national purpose.
The deadline for the contest has been extended. The deadline for submissions is now April 15, 2013. This change was made in consultation with the Department of Education and in consideration of the lost school days throughout the commonwealth this winter.
